Al-Jalaa Hospital for Surgery and Accidents
In 1963, the Crown Prince of the Libyan Kingdom, Reza Senussi, laid the foundation
stone for the establishment of the Hospital for Surgery and Accidents - Benghazi.
After five years of laying the foundation stone, the hospital was opened
in May 1968 as a surgery and accident hospital and consisted of a single ground house.
In 1974, the hospital was developed with the addition of the second floor,
a management building and an ambulance and observation building
The clinical capacity of the hospital is 465 beds. It also contains the following sections
(General Surgery - Orthopedic Surgery - Burns and Cosmetic Surgery - Chest Surgery - Neurosurgery
- Jaw and Dental Surgery - Laparoscopic Surgery), as well as: (Physical Therapy Department -
Gypsum Department - Therapeutic Nutritional Department Tion - Infection - Infection Control Office
- Quality and Patient and Other Safety Departments). It is available in the Department of Radiography
(CT - Cardiac Catheters and Limbs - Ultrasound-MRI).
The hospital receives emergency patients in the Ambulance and Emergency Department and covers the
eastern and southern regions of the State of Libya as the only hospital specializing in accidents and
injuries in these areas, and includes a number of consultants, specialists and doctors from various
specialties, as well as a number (12) operating rooms for all specialties with recovery rooms.
